Nature-Based Learning

We are rewilding childhood through farm-based learning, nature excursions, and outdoor education. Our next big leap: Beulah Land Farms, a 4,000-acre flagship site offering children immersive experiences in nature, land stewardship, and outdoor creativity.

Through this work, we are addressing a growing developmental and public health crisis. Tangent research shows:

Nature improves mental health and reduces toxic stress. Studies show that even 20 minutes in nature can significantly lower cortisol levels in children and reduce symptoms of anxiety and depression. (University of Illinois, 2019)

Outdoor learning boosts academic outcomes.

Students who engage in regular outdoor education outperform peers in reading, math, and science. It enhances motivation, critical thinking, and long-term retention. (American Institutes for Research, 2005)

Play in nature enhances executive function and resilience. Exposure to unstructured outdoor play strengthens working memory, self-regulation, and adaptability—all key predictors of lifelong success. (Harvard Center on the Developing Child, 2016)

Nature reduces the impacts of screen time and digital fatigue.

Outdoor programs offer a powerful antidote to screen overexposure, helping restore attention, improve sleep quality, and reengage imagination. (Children & Nature Network, 2020)

Time in green spaces promotes lifelong stewardship and empathy.

Children who develop early relationships with the land grow into more environmentally responsible and socially compassionate adults. (Chawla, 2009, Journal of Environmental Education)

Beulah Land Farms isn’t just a place—it’s a healing ecosystem where childhood is reclaimed and reimagined. From toddlers digging in the dirt to tweens navigating forest paths, every moment outdoors is a step toward a healthier, more connected future.
