Cancellation Policy

Accepted Answer

If you cancel any enrollment 30 days or more before the first date of child participation, we will issue a 100% credit equal to the amount of money paid. This tuition credit can be applied to any World Explorers service, does not expire, and can be transferred to siblings, another family, or to our scholarship fund upon request.

If you cancel your program enrollment with less than 30 days notice due to a family move, emergency, or illness, please contact us so that we can work out a solution for your family.

Canceling a service for any reason does not constitute a tuition refund or cancellation of a payment plan.

Due to the nature and structure of our programs, we do not offer any make up days

Question 5

Late Pickup Policy

Accepted Answer

We understand things happen and offer a 5-minute grace period. Please let us know if you are running late by reaching out to your child's counselor via the Brightwheel App. After the grace period a $10 late fee will be assessed for every 15 minute increment.  (Ex: 30 minutes past grace period= $20 late pickup fee)

The late pickup fee will be charged to the payment method associated with your Sawyer account.

Behavior Management Policy

We focus on child engagement and interest as a number one behavior management tool. We use positive discipline methods which encourage self-control, self-direction, self esteem, and cooperation. We focus on positive reinforcement and conflict resolution. When it becomes necessary to discipline a child, certain steps are followed:
 
• Talking to the child to help him/her see how he/she is misbehaving.
• Separating the child from the activity being disrupted.
• Separating the child from the group.
• Holding a conference with the parents about the behavior.
• Possible termination of future camp enrollment if issues persist.

Food Policy

Breakfast, lunch, and two snacks are included in the program costs. We focus on non-gmo organic foods. We encourage healthy eating choices. We are a nut-free facility. We accommodate most allergies and dietary restrictions. Please complete your family profile to inform our staff of any relative allergy or dietary restrictions. Communicate any issues with the camp director.

Health Policy

Staff will assess the child's health and well-being visually and by asking questions to determine any causes of illness and to check for any demeanor changes. Parents/Guardians will be contacted at the discretion of the staff. If your child vomits or has a high fever at World Explorers he/she will be isolated and a parent will be called so that the child can be picked up as soon as possible as a precaution to maintain the health and wellness of other explorers and staff.

Will my child have outside time?

During Extreme Adventure Camp Days  our K-5th campers travel off site for their scheduled excursion.

During Extreme Chill Camp Days we make every effort to provide a minimum of 30 minutes of play time (weather permitting)  at Fort Greene Park or on our on-site terrace every morning before lunch.

Extreme Chill Camp Days are offered to our 3K/4K and K-5th camp groups.

What should my child bring?

My child is on school break - can they still attend School Break Camp!

Yes! Our program is open for any child who is in need of care.  For days or weeks when most schools are closed, we offer a themed day or week of activities.

How do you manage bathroom accidents?

We understand that this may be the first year for  many of our little explorers (3K, 4K, & K) navigating a full camp day along with aftercare camp activities. Every child may be at a different place in their potty training journey towards being able to utilize the bathroom facilities without assistance. We are here to help support our Explorers when accidents do arise.

How We Assist Children in the Bathroom:

Our counselors will guide children to the restroom and provide assistance through audible and demonstrative instructions and coaching to help guide their restroom routine and ensure that they are  following adequate sanitary steps as developmentally appropriate. Due to the setup of the bathrooms at our location, we do not have access to changing tables or other specialized facilities. It is essential that your child has a full change of clothing readily available in their backpack.

What is Considered a Bathroom Accident?

A bathroom accident is when a child is unable to make it to the restroom in time or has a mishap while using the restroom, resulting in soiled clothes or undergarments. We understand that accidents happen, and our staff is here to assist your child with care and discretion.

We kindly request that all parents provide a full change of clothes for their child, including:
 A full outfit (shirt, pants, etc.)
 Extra pull-ups (if needed)
 Extra underwear
These items should be stored in your child’s backpack, separate from the supplies you provide to their classroom teacher for the school day. This will allow us to quickly access the necessary items during camp hours without any delays.
